Tour one of America’s great historic sites!
Step back in time as our experienced interpreters share with you their extensive knowledge about our historic site and the people who called it home.
Cliveden welcomes groups by appointment throughout the year. Tours for groups of any size must be scheduled in advance of your visit. Please contact our Education Director, Carolyn Wallace, at 215-848-1777 ext. 225 or at email@example.com.
Cliveden offers historic school programs for a variety of ages and interests.
Patriots or Traitors
This program looks at the conflicting loyalties of Philadelphians during the American Revolution. Students participate in an interactive introduction and then explore the lives of Revolutionary War soldiers at hands-on workshop tables. The program is followed by a tour of our battlefield and the house that withstood the assault. Goes great with Philadelphia School District Curriculum!
History Hunters (Curriculum Based Program)
Cliveden is one of four historic sites that participates in the History Hunters Youth Reporter Program, a field trip program for Philadelphia fourth and fifth grade students. Each year more than 1,000 children visit Cliveden as a History Hunter. This program is offered in conjunction with school-based curriculum. Cliveden and Breakthrough Philadelphia, with support from The Haley Foundation and the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund of the National Trust for Historic Preservation with support from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, worked together to create English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science curriculum based on Liberty to Go to See, Cliveden’s annual dramatic event. The curriculum is geared towards middle school students, specifically 8th grade. To access these materials, click here.
- Cliveden requires that school groups have 1 chaperone per 10 students.
